The chawan presents a broad, rounded body with a low foot and an open interior, giving the whisk room to move while the curved walls help contain froth. Its irregular profile sits securely and feels natural in both hands.

Chawan is Japanese for tea bowl and refers to the bowl used in matcha preparation. Its generous form developed within the tradition of whisking powdered tea by hand, while Chinese tea bowls supplied important historical precedents.

Made in China, this bowl shows a reddish-brown ceramic body, darkened and softly varied by wood firing. The rounded rim and subtle throwing lines remain visible through the muted surface. Wash gently and let it dry fully before storing.
